As a barometer of the global industrial development, Hannover Messe 2009 was opened at Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC), Hannover, Germany at 6:30 pm on April 19, 2009. Horst Köhler, President of the Federal Republic of Germany and Han Seung-soo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, partner country of Hannover Messe 2009 also took part in it.

It's learned that 2009 HANNOVER MESSE attracts over 6,150 exhibitors from 61 different nations, covering an exhibiting area of 225,000 square meters. 13 flagship fairs of international renown are being featured at HANNOVER MESSE 2009, including Interkama+, Factory Automation, Industrial Building Automation, MDA-Motion, Drive & Automation, Digital Factory, Subcontracting, Energy, Wind, Power Plant Technology, ComVac, Surface Technology, Micro Technology and Research & Technology. There are more than 400 Chinese companies exhibiting at the expo, covering an area of 4,500 square meters. The theme of 2009 HANNOVER MESSE is "Energy Efficiency in Industrial Processes".
