Review on Hardware + Tools Middle East 2009

"There are around 60 fastener enterprises exhibiting in the Hardware & Tools Middle East 2009, of which the majority came from China, which indicates that most of Chinese fastener enterprises actively explore the international markets, in face of various challenges with doggedness and aggression. "

As the most popular china fastener media, we started our oversea journey again in the immediate aftermath of the Australian National Manufacturing Week (NMW) 2009. Flying to Dubai—“Paradise of the Richest” through the United Arab Emirates airline from Shanghai on May 14th, our direction was the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, where the Hardware + Tools Middle East 2009 was held. As usual, we distributed a great many CFDs at the scene of the exhibition and invited foreign buyers to Guangzhou Fastener Trade Show on September 23rd orgnized by China Fastener Info.

At 9:30 am on May 17th Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and water, announced the opening of the exhibition. As many shows of this year, the first day of Hardware + Tools Middle East 2009 witnessed few visitors. According to our collected business cards, many of the visitors mainly came from United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, India, Saudi Arabia and Iran. Having a talk with them, we knew that lots of Middle Eastern clients were very familiar with China, or to be exact, they knew all of China. They had been to China many times and could get out many Chinese cities’ names. Some of them imported fasteners from China and were eager to find fastener suppliers who can provide cheap but excellent commodities. Having got that China Fastener Info, the international media, can provide them with effective and valuable information, they said they will continue to pay close attention to our websites, CFD and the trade show on September 23rd, and at the same time gave their phone numbers and e-mails to us to keep in touch with them.

According the survey of the exhibitors, there were 273 exhibiting enterprises altogether, among which about 70% came from Chinese mainland. The rest were from Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and U.S. There were around 60 fastener enterprises exhibiting in the Hardware & Tools Middle East 2009, of which the majority came from China, which indicates that most of Chinese fastener enterprises actively explore the international markets, in face of various challenges with doggedness and aggression.

    About Dubai

Dubai, the second largest emirate by area after Abu Dhabi among the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is the economic center and the second largest city of the UAE. Dubai has a temperature of around 10-30 °C in winter with the highest recorded temperature of 40 °C in summer. The official language is Arabian with English as it primary commercial language. Its established religion is Islam. A large majority of its residents are Muslims.

Drinking and eating pork are forbidden in Dubai as a Muslim country. However, its religious doctrines are not as so strict as those in other Muslim countries such as Sharjah and Saudi because of its internationalization of high degree. Generally speaking, almost all the pubs have bars in Dubai. You can sell wine at restaurant if you have got the approval of the government—the wine license, that is the permit of selling wine. But in general, the restaurant is banned selling wine. You are prohibited from selling pork at restaurant, to boot, but can buy it at some special zones and cook it at home.

Dubai is a paradise for women as regard the clothing compared with those Islamic countries. In spite of the requirement of wearing long black gown wrappin from their heads to toes with only eyes out for the local women,  other non-Muslim women are free from this doctrine. Many visitors from Europe and America can even wear vests, short pants and mini skirt with their exposed chests and legs. This is banned in Sharjah. The clothes women wear in Sharjah should cover their shoulders and beyond and the dress should reach their legs.

The government of Dubai usually begins to work at 7 o’clock or 8 o’clock in the morning and closes at 2:00 pm. Thus, if you want to get help from the government you should get up early. As to the enterprises, the start working time is at 9:00 in the morning and the off time is at 2:00 in the afternoon. And at 4:00 pm, they go to work again till 8:00 pm. Different from our country, their weekend is Friday while Friday and Saturday for the government, which was modified last year. The weekends previously were Thursday and Friday in Dubai. But it changed from September last year due to the development of the internationalization and the fixed custom—religious service on Friday. On the weekends, stores are often closed until 4 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

In addition, Arabian countries have the Islamic religious observance—Ramadan that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. To those non-Muslims, the Ramadan is a miserable period of time on the grounds that the stores are not allowed to open during the whole month. Those Muslims are also not allowed to have food from the sunrise till the sunset. Therefore, they only have dinner at night which is called “the morning meal” during this month. Nevertheless, hotels can sell food but can only eat in the hotel or in the room. What’s more, no matter whether you are Muslims or not, you are not permitted to have dinners, water, and smoke in public places until evening when the sun sets.
