"It is learned from the Taizhou customs that the total fastener exports during January to April was 1,321 tons and valued 3.92 million US dollars, which fell 32.8% and 30.4% respectively year-on-year, the lowest level in 4 years.
"
Taizhou fastener exports appeared a state of sharp drop this year which was affected by the spreading of international financial crisis, the high antidumping duties of 80% average by EU, the low technical content of product quality in local enterprises, etc. It is learned from the Taizhou customs that the total fastener exports during January to April was 1,321 tons and valued 3.92 million US dollars, which fell 32.8% and 30.4% respectively year-on-year, the lowest level in 4 years.
The exports of steel or iron threaded fasteners showed a trend of plummet according to the statistics. The export amount of steel or iron fasteners was 612 tons during January to April, down 43.5%. The number of export enterprises increased a bit, but most of them had smaller export scale. According to the statistics, there are 105 fastener export enterprises, up 20.7%. However, only six of them had the export amount over 50 tons and more than 30 enterprises had the export amount less than 1 ton.
In view of these facts, Taizhou customs reminds the related enterprises to adjust market structure and improve the added value of products. They are suggested to try to develop new market in Middle East, Russia, Brazil in order to form a new export pattern of “put eggs in different baskets”. Furthermore, the enterprises should also set overseas fastener production base with the strategy of “walking out” to avoid the antidumping restriction from EU and other countries. Thereby, the healthy development of fastener industry in Taizhou can be advanced.
